About us

Founded 1990 in Langenfeld (Germany), Colombus now is looking back on more than 20 years of textile know-how:

It all started with the classic import business of textiles from Italy and Turkey.

Over time and a few adjustments after we are not a classic agent anymore, nowadays we are an “allrounder”.
However, our main vision on being a reliable and long term partner for our clients, who cherishes quality as much as we do, never lost its value.

Together with our team, our liaison offices in Hong Kong and Bangladesh and our factory we do not only have the needed knowledge, but also the certain sensibility some tricky situations might need.

Our demand towards quality, flexibility, communication and satisfaction – throughout all business integrities – remains our highest value, now, and in future.

We pack, ship and take care of all custom issues.

If requested, we can store the goods at our warehouse and deliver certain quantities upon demand.

Ethical Trade

Those are the standards we have been working together for some time now. Further, we are engaged with other local initiative. If you would like to get more information, feel free to get in touch with us directly.

  • Oeko-Tex

The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is a worldwide common, independent auditing and certification system for raw, semi-finished and finished textile products at all processing levels, as well as all used accessories. The certificate first appeared in 1992 and is one of the most represented of its kind.

  • BSCI

The Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) was founded in 2003 by the Forgein Trade Association (FTA) and pursues the goal to improve working conditions throughout the international supply chain. The central focus of the initiative is their code of conduct, which defines the values and principles of ethical sourcing in todays global supply chain.

  • Accord

The Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh is a legally binding agreement between western brands, buyers and national and international unions. The goal is to implement secure and longlasting fire safety and structual standards in the RMG sector. Regular inspections by speciale trained auditors and publicly displayed inspection reports are the core of this agreement. All up-to-date results are visible on the Accord webpage.
Colombus has been one of the first members who freely joined this agreement.

  • Better Work

The Better Work programm is a unique cooperation between the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The aim is to support factories on the longrun while implementing ILO standards and national laws. The specific implementation, improvement and training techniques on working standards do not only help factories to comply with global customer standards, improving working conditions, but as well as improving the companies profability in terms of productivity and quality.

  • Gots

Only textile products that contain a minimum of 70% organic fibres can become GOTS certified. All chemical inputs such as dyestuffs and auxiliaries used must meet certain environmental and toxicological criteria. The choice of accessories is limited in accordance with ecological aspects as well. A functional waste water treatment plant is mandatory for any wet-processing unit involved and all processors must comply with social criteria. The key criteria of GOTS, its quality assurance system and the principles of the review and revision procedure are summarised in this section.
